Having a mutual love of coffee and wood-fired pizza and the ever present desire to quit their day jobs, owners Almin and Talwyn’s dream became reality in late October 2008 when they discovered an ideal location in the heart of Melville at 356 Marmion street. Offering breakfast, blend has become a vibrant and laidback eatery that provides fresh quality food, dinner and a solid take –away menu that caters for all, lunch, coffee and friendly service at a reasonable price. With the wood-fired pizza bar operating at night proving just as popular, blend quickly expanded next door in April 2010 setting up a new full kitchen with seating for 100 patrons. Open seven days, blend began operation as a small funky cafe by day, focussing on quality coffee making that was backed by Al’s 2005 Barista of the year award that soon saw it catering to very enthusiastic local demand. Gathering ‘brick n brac’ and with a style all their own, they embraced commitment to enhance the previously tired shopping centre. The boys worked some hours renovating the old Picture Framing shop with some enthusiastic self- taught skills and with a little help from friends, blend began to take shape. (more).
